Criminal Investigations Unit (CIU)

The Criminal Investigations Unit is responsible for investigating all crime reports taken and is divided into two teams: the Major Crimes team and the Property Crimes team.

The Criminal Investigations Unit is divided into two teams: the Major Crimes Team and the Property Crimes Team.

 

The Major Crimes Team is responsible for investigating (including but not limited to): homicides, sexual assaults, child abuse and neglect, and domestic violence.


The Property Crimes Team is responsible for the investigation of all crimes where the motive is financial gain, or crimes that result in the theft or destruction of property. Areas responsible for investigating (including but not limited to): arson, identity theft, embezzlement, and vandalism.
